We have just acquired a new, high performance wheel. It is a Shimpo Whisper wheel, generally regarded by many potters as the “de facto” professional studio potters wheel. Of particular note is the fact that the wheel is almost entirely quiet- it is very difficult to hear the wheel operating/rotating at all. You will often see these wheels used at demonstrations due to the quality and the very low noise – ideal for demonstrations when a potter is trying to talk to the audience whilst throwing. In fact, our wheel was used by Shozo Michikawa at his recent demonstration in Petersfiled (hosted by PACS Potters), and has his signature on the side to prove it!
